Where to place each Vastu item in your home

With Vastu pieces, where you put them matters as much as what you buy. Here is how most families and Vastu consultants set these up.

Room by room

• Kuber Yantra: on the north wall, or the north side of your locker, almirah or cash counter. North is traditionally Kuber's direction.
• 7 Horse Pyrite Frame: common practice is the south or east wall of the living room or office cabin, with the horses running into the room. Avoid hanging it so they run out of the main door or a window.
• Pyrite Tortoise: the north side of the home or work desk, facing into the room. Keep it dry, as pyrite doesn't do well sitting in water.
• Lakshmi Charan Paduka: at the main entrance with the footprints pointing inside, as if Lakshmi is walking in. Keep it just inside the threshold where nobody steps on it.
• Shree Yantra: in the puja ghar, in the north-east, on a clean red or yellow cloth.
• Vastu Dosh Nivaran Yantra: for flats you can't break and rebuild, like a kitchen in the wrong corner or a toilet in the north-east. Usually kept near the main door or in the affected zone.
• Selenite Plate: wherever you keep bracelets and malas at night, so they recharge.

Getting the timing right

Griha pravesh, Akshaya Tritiya, Dhanteras and Diwali are the days most people bring these home. Otherwise, Friday works for Lakshmi items and Thursday for Kuber. Clean the spot first, light a diya and do a short puja before placing anything, and try not to keep shifting a yantra once it is set.

Rented homes and small flats

You don't need everything at once. A Lakshmi Paduka at the door and one yantra in the puja corner is a sensible start for a 1BHK.
