Description
The Kanakdhara Yantra is a 24 carat gold plated yantra devoted to Goddess Lakshmi, measuring 3.14 x 3.14 inches. Kanakdhara means a stream of gold, and the yantra is linked with the Kanakdhara Stotra composed by Adi Shankaracharya.
The story goes that young Shankaracharya sang this stotra for a poor woman who had given him her only amla, and Goddess Lakshmi blessed her home. Because of this, the yantra is kept by families who want Lakshmi's grace in the house and fewer hurdles around money. It is often installed on Dhanteras, Diwali or Akshaya Tritiya.
The size is small enough for a home altar, a shop counter or an office desk. Regular puja, with a diya and the Lakshmi mantra, is the traditional way to keep it.
