  1. Sit facing east on a Monday or Friday morning after bath.
  2. Light a diya and offer a red flower if you have one.
  3. Chant the Murugan mantra below 108 times, holding the pendant.
  4. Wear it with the bead near the heart.
  5. Remove it for soap baths; wipe it dry if it gets sweaty.

ॐ शरवणभवाय नमः

Chant 108 times (one mala). A six-syllable mantra to Lord Murugan (Kartikeya) as Saravanabhava.
