Description
The Guru Yantram is a 24 carat gold plated yantra for Brihaspati, the graha Jupiter. It is kept in the puja ghar, study or office and worshipped on Thursdays.
In Vedic astrology, Guru is the teacher among the planets. A well-placed Jupiter is linked with knowledge, good judgement, marriage, children and steady prosperity. When an astrologer finds Jupiter weak or troubled in a kundli, a Guru Yantra is one of the common remedies suggested, along with chanting and charity. It is especially popular with Dhanu (Sagittarius) and Meen (Pisces) rashi, whose lord is Jupiter, and with people whose birth number is 3.
Students before exams, teachers, and families praying for a good marriage often keep this yantra. Yellow is Jupiter's colour, so a yellow cloth and yellow flowers are used in its puja.
